Dr. Nicholas Apostolopoulos was born and raised in Hanover Township, NJ. He graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University with a BA in Molecular Biology & Biochemistry and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Between undergraduate and medical school, he spent two years conducting research at Harvard Medical School. He completed his medical school and ophthalmology training at Yale School of Medicine.
Among his many accomplishments, he was elected as a co-president of his medical school class and a member of the medical school admissions committee. He developed a keen interest in ophthalmology while in medical school and took an extra year to complete a research thesis on eye development. Throughout his training, his passion has always been to master the science as well as the art of medicine – he cared for every patient as a family member and devoted himself to the residency program and education and was awarded the prestigious Patrick Mathews Award for exemplifying his devotion to the profession.
Dr. Apostolopoulos has an active clinical interest in cataract and refractive surgery and complex anterior segment surgery for adults using the latest technology and surgical techniques. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has published several peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals including the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and the Journal of the American Medical Association Ophthalmology.
Dr. Apostolopoulos previously practiced at Affiliated Eye Surgeons of Northern NJ before starting his own practice in Boonton, NJ. He hopes to bring his passion for helping patients see better and takes pride in every patient whom he sees and in every surgery that he performs. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Apostolopoulos enjoys spending time with his wife and two children as well as traveling, hiking, camping, skiing and cycling.
